Since the last report (07/25), we've gotten 3+ inches of rain, causing much growth. The stand has filled in greatly, although there are a couple of 'thin' areas.
Seedheads can be seen in about 25% of the thicker areas of the field, and the entire plot was cut for hay.
Fairly clean stand - some Crabgrass and
Jimson weed (which was pulled by hand).
30" at the tallest spot.
Some lodging occured after the
last thunderstorm.
Seedhead.
Thin portion of the plot.
More seedheads.
Cut height averaged between 3" & 4".
Tire tracks showing the
moist soil condition.
The mower stared to pull the plants
from the ground, vs cutting them.
Slowing the forward speed solved
this (for the most part).
